Two words that are often confused.

eminent vs. imminent

Eminent = „respected, successful, well-known“, as in „an eminent virologist.

Imminent = means „happening very soon,“ as in „expecting his imminent departure“ or „his departure is imminent.“

Tidbit on the side: Cardinals in the Catholic Church are addressed as „Your Eminence“.
